CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Saturday is National Puppy Day and it's your chance to show off your furry friend, even if he's no longer under a year old!

Official website of the event. states that National Puppy Day is designed to celebrate “the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives.” It is also a day to help save orphaned puppies around the world and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills.

It was founded in 2006 by author and pet and home lifestyle expert Colleen Paige, who also founded National Dog Day, National Chucho Dog Day and others.
