CHICAGO (WLS) — As shoppers search the web for Leap Day deals, hospitals have been busy welcoming the “leaps.”
Leap Day, February 29, is a correction to counteract the fact that the Earth's orbit is not exactly 365 days a year. It occurs every four years.
The chances of being born on a leap day are only one in 1,461 or 0.068%.
Babies born on Leap Day are known as “jumpers” or “jumpers.”
Less than 0.1% of the population shares a birthday on a leap day.
